Parent & Child Ceramics


Mother and child glazingWork together as a team and hand build with clay a large bowl or box the first week, and the following week paint it with colored slips and a clear glaze. Experiment with carvings or a relief on your pot or additional work. Wear old clothes.

Location: Rochester Clayworks

Times: Saturdays, 10:30 am -12:00 pm or 3-4:30pm
Fee: $35 per pair
Set up your private class!! We also have other daytime and evening hours, Monday-Sunday.
Call at least by Friday 6pm to set up a class for the next day.

Clay Time for Tots


Do you think your young child would enjoy working with clay? Come explore how to make and glaze a textured wall item, animal pots, or a box. Moms are welcome to stay and work too!! An additional child is $8. Call to set up your Class!!

Get all Muddy Wheel Throwing Workshop


Come throw a pot on the pottery wheel with the instructor. Try to center the clay and pull it up into a small mug or bowl. The next week, you will trim the foot of the pot and paint it with your choice of colors and a clear glaze.

Times: Saturdays, (1)1-3:00 pm or (2)3:30-5:30pm
We also have other daytime and evening hours, Monday-Friday.
Call at least on day in advance to set up a class.
Fee: $28 per person , min 2 people per class

Get All Muddy on the Potter's Wheel


Here is your opportunity to learn how to throw clay on the potter's wheel or/and hand build with clay. The first three classes, you will have instruction on how to center the clay, open and and pull it up into a small cylinder or a bowl. Also, try to hand build with clay using techniques;pinching ,coiling and slab to create a bowl or box form. On the final day, you will trim the foot of your creations and paint it with many colors of slip and/or your choice of three glazes.

Times: Mondays-Sundays, 2:30-5pm or Fridays, 6:30-9pm
maximum 2 people at a time (only have 2 wheels)
Fee: $75 per person for 5 weeks

Friday Group Night in Clay


Come as a group, friends or family, and hand build a ceramic vase or box. The next week, you will paint your ware with your choice of colors and a clear glaze. An adult must accompany children that are between the ages of four to nine years.

Times: Fridays, 1:30 am -3:00 pm or 7-8:30 pm
We also have other daytime and evening hours, Monday-Friday.

Kid's Ceramic Class


Girl glazingLearn the basics of working with real clay by creating a teapot, vessel or box by using various techniques in hand building. Kids will sketch out their projects on paper and create it in three weeks. They will decorate their ware with colored slips and a clear glaze during the fourth class. Parents will have to come back a week later to pick up pottery. Wear old clothes.

Times: Kid’s Ceramic Class takes place on four consecutive Fridays from 4:00 - 5:30 pm.

Adult's Introduction to Ceramics


Create a beautiful plate, box or vessel for your home! Learn the basics in hand building and design forms that have carvings or a relief. Try to throw clay on the wheel one day, and the next week, trim the foot of the pot. Decorate your fired ware with colored slips and/or cobalt or turquoise glaze on the last day. We also have some new glazes to check out now! Ages 14 years and up.

Times: Adult's Introduction to Ceramics Monday-Fridays, day time or 6:30 - 9:00pm,Sundays,2:30-5pm
Fee: 5 weeks for $75 which includes materials and firing fees.
